In the Beginning (of the coup) there was Trump. . .





How many different ways can we say it? What can we do to convince American Voters that this is not a political sales pitch? When we look at the polls and we see how many votes might be given to Trump, we have to wonder why so many of us are enamored with him. Do we really want someone to take over our country as a dictator? 

Trump has told us he intends to shut down so many of the rights and freedoms we have always enjoyed. Some of them are what makes America strong and vital and some are necessary to an individual's survival. All of them have been debated and found to be what makes America a democracy and in the end, those things are why they're on Trump's chopping block, because that's what makes him a proud MAGA dictator!

Donald Trump is playing to those who want to be on the "winning side" of America. However, there view of that side are wishful thinking. There is no winning side until all of us are winning.  That's a democracy! 

Sure, some have more money, some have less, and some have a sense of the reason for the differences. We would all like to be rich and powerful. We would all like to be healthy. We would all like to be happy. But we can't legislate - or demand - our wishes. We are what we are - with the good sense to improve when and where we can. That is the Genesis of the American Dream! 

Trump is selling Americans a make-believe nation where he will rule and give everyone, as Merle Haggard said in song, "free Bubble-Up and Rainbow Stew" every day of their lives.

Come on, you know that's a dream, and I know that's a dream, and most importantly, Trump knows it's a dream. But, he doesn't count and he doesn't care. . . because he's living the life of an authoritarian ruler and he'll be calling all of the shots!

Viktor Orban, dictator of Hungary and a good friend of Trump,  is showing Trump the pathway to his dreams this weekend during his invited visit to Mar-a-Lago. A plan that says, "Donald Trump, come on down! You, too, can be the most hated man in your country and not care a hoot about it. You have fooled the fools who voted for you, and now you are their ruler. Welcome to your dream world of tyranny!"

A Day for a little Levity. . .

Confession of a   Social Climber Before I cash in my chips and curl up my toes, I need to confess to a terrible crime. For more than 86 years I have been a terrible liar about an important moment in of my life. As everyone who knows me is aware, I have always said my home town was Fort Benton. But, I hope everyone will find a way to forgive me for that terrible fib. I admit I was a social climber from birth. I wanted the world to know I was from a large city. When I was born, my parents and and older brother lived in the beautiful town of Virgelle, Montana. We also had a farm across the river from Virgelle and south about five miles on top of the river breaks. We lived there for about three years and then moved back to the farm.
